A blind Thera-Pit named "Stevie the Wonder Dog"

The good news, positive press continues for pit bulls from across the nation.

Today's featured pit bull is a blind dog named "Stevie," or "Stevie the Wonder Dog" to those who know him best.

Stevie

At just five weeks of age, Stevie and his siblings were dropped off at an animal shelter. The tiny pup was blind and it is believed that his disability is the result of poor breeding practices.

Thankfully, this incredible dog was rescued, as were his siblings. Today, he is a true ambassador of his breed.

Stevie's blindness is a mere side note to the incredible dog that he is. From the time that he was a young puppy, he has been drawn to people and they, to him.

Today, Stevie works side-by-side with the woman who adopted him, Jen Milner.

Once I brush his teeth, Stevie knows we have a therapy dog visit, and he's ready to go!

Together, the pair works as a therapy dog team through Pet Partners and Therapy Animals of Utah.

Every two weeks, the pair visits the Volunteers of America Detox Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

"Happy Thursday! May the universe bring you a big pile of tennis balls in your backyard... or whatever brings you joy!"

Milner describes the experience:

"Some people crawl on the floor with him and get covered with kisses. Some people hang back and just want to see how he interacts with the world. As a human volunteer, I can't have any physical contact with clients, but Stevie can. And people let their guard down with him in a way that they can't with another person. It's a chance to be accepted and just be in the moment. And it's something that I feel very lucky to be present for."

You can follow Stevie the Wonder Dog at his very own Facebook fan page here......
