Just more proof that pit bulls make wonderful companions – and great therapy dogs, too!

For many people with developmental disabilities, pets have the ability to provide and affect sensory enhancement just by the simple act of petting.
Therapy or companion animals are frequently trained to assist those with disabilities in their daily lives. For Helen Keller, who was deemed deaf and blind when she was less than 2 years old, her pets, including her pit bulls, helped her to overcome her physical difficulties and provided her with the unconditional love and support the way only a dog can do.
Keller once said of her beloved Sir Thomas: “He has a long pedigree, a crooked tail and the drollest ‘phiz’ in dogdom. My dog friends seem to understand my limitations, and always keep close beside me when I am alone. I love their affectionate ways and the eloquent wag of their tails.”
Just more proof that pit bulls make wonderful companions – and great therapy dogs, too!
